Plastic litter form the Beaches of Ireland.

Wild Atlantic Clothing is a clothing brand which is designed and produced on the West coast of Ireland. We aim to use 10 percent of the profits from every product we sell to help remove plastic litter from the beaches of Ireland.

So what is the problem with Plastic on the beaches and in the sea?

It is believed that there are 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic debris in the ocean. Of that mass, 269,000 tons float on the surface, while some four billion plastic microfibers per square kilometer litter the sea.

Plastic pollution doesn't just hurt marine species. ... When animals eat these plastic pieces, the toxins are absorbed into their body and passed up the food chain. As plastics break apart in the ocean, they also release potentially toxic chemicals such as bisphenol A (BPA), which can then enter the food chain.

Tens of thousands of whales, birds, seals and turtles are killed every year from plastic bag litter in the marine environment as they often mistake plastic bags for food such as jellyfish. Plastic bags, once ingested, cannot be digested or passed by an animal so it stays in the gut.

Our Goal:

Funds raised from the purchase of our products will help us to;

  • 1.Clean.
  • Through organising and funding beach clean ups we can remove large amounts of plastic. Due to ocean tides & currents this is something that needs to be repeated again and again.
  • 2.Educate.
  •       A whole generation has been responsible for creating an enormous environmental issue, and unfortunately it’s going to fall to the next generation to be less foolhardy and try to undo some of the damage. That’s not to say the current generation should absolve all responsibility, however we need to continue to educate people of the harm plastics cause and how we can stop creating so much destruction to some of the most fragile parts of our planet – our oceans.
  • 3.Promote.
  •       To increase awareness of the problem and of how people can help. To present information and facts on the difference that can be made.
  • To show progress and results of what has been done.
